My Declaration of Self-Esteem

My Declaration of Self-Esteem
by Virginia Satir
I AM ME
In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me. There are persons who have some parts like me, but no one adds up exactly like me. Therefore, everything that comes out of me is authentically mine because I alone choose it.
I own everything about me- my body, including everything it does; my mind, including all my thoughts and ideas; my eyes, including the images of all they behold; my feelings, whatever they might be -- anger, joy, frustration, love, disappointment, excitement; my mouth and all the words that come out of it -- polite, sweet and rough, correct or incorrect; my voice, loud and soft; all my actions, whether they be to others or myself.
I own my fantasies, my dreams, my hopes, my fears. I own my triumphs and successes, and all my failures and mistakes.
Because I own all of me, I can become intimately acquainted with me. By doing so, I can love me and be friendly with me in all my parts. I can then make it possible for all of me to work in my best interests.
I know that there are aspects about myself that puzzle me, and other aspects that I do not know. But as long as I am friendly and loving to myself, I can courageously and hopefully look for the solutions to the puzzles and for ways to find out more about me.
However I look and sound, whatever I say and do, and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time is me. This is authentic and represents where I am at that moment in time.
When I review later how I looked and sounded, what I said and did, and how I thought and felt, some parts may turn out to be unfitting, and I can discard that which is unfitting and keep that which proved fitting, and invent something new for that which I discarded.
I can see, hear, feel, think, say and do. I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be productive, to make sense and order out of the world of people and things outside of me.
I own me and therefore I can engineer me. I am me and I am okay.

You Are Mine

YOU ARE MINE
By David Haas
I will come to you in the silence
I will lift you from all your fear
You will hear My voice I claim you as My choice
Be still, and know I am near
I am hope for all who are hopeless
I am eyes for all who long to see
In the shadows of the night, I will be your light
Come and rest in Me
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine
I am strength for all the despairing
Healing for the ones who dwell in shame
All the blind will see, the lame will all run free
And all will know My name
I am the Word that leads all to freedom
I am the peace the world cannot give
I will call your name, embracing all your pain
Stand up, now, walk, and live
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine

SO in LOVE

SO in LOVE

Spring, summer, fall & winter dreams
Those are shinning like a star
They keep whispering
“I’m so in love with you”
Spring, summer, fall & winter love
It is breezing to my heart
and it keeps telling
“I’ll make you rainbow smile”
I remember when we were angels
when we dreamed about us
All my days were happy
just like a snowy christmas
I wish i’d have them always
Every step i make writes a story
It is full of the heart
feeling love of my life and missing friends of my time
I wish i’d have them all
In Spring, summer, fall & winter days
we’ve been sharing all the hearts
love shines in my eyes
love just won’t fade away
I remember when we were angels
when we dreamed about us
All my days were happy
just like a snowy christmas
I wish i’d have them always
Every step i make writes a story
It is full of the heart
feeling love of my life and missing friends of my time
I Wish i’d have them all
If you’d all the way show me the world
where I will stay in love
All my days will be white
just like a snowy christmas
You’re just all I need

Camarines Sur 2009

September 17, 2009. 2PM – My family decided to go to Naga City for the Penafrancia Festival. Since it’s merely 2 days before the feast, I had a hard time finding a hotel or any place to stay. This is my 5th time in Bicol. But before we have no problem with accommodation since my aunt is a nun and we are staying at the Basilica. My aunt is member of Daughters of Mary congregation. This year, they didn’t come with us. We found a tourist inn outside Naga City where we stayed comfortably.

The feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia is celebrated on the third Saturday of September in Naga City where Filipinos (not only Bicolanos) will pay honor to the Virgin of Peñafrancia, whom the Bicolanos fondly call Ina, the miraculous patroness of the Bicol Region. The feast day is headed by a novena, nine days of prayer, in honor of the Virgin. On the first day, the image of the Virgin, a copy of the Madonna in Peñafrancia, Spain, is brought from its shrine to the Naga Cathedral where the novena is held. On the last day, the image is returned to her shrine following the Naga River route. The colorful evening procession is lit by thousands of candles from followers in boats escorting the image. When the float reaches its destination, the devotees shout "Viva la Virgen" (Long live the Virgin!) and the image is carried back in a procession to the cathedral.

DID YOU KNOW THAT....

During an hour's swimming at a municipal pool you will ingest 1/12 litre of urine?

In an average day your hands will have come into indirect contact with 15 penises (touching door handles, etc.)?

An average person's yearly fast food intake will contain 12 pubic hairs?

In a year you will have swallowed 14 insects - while you slept!?

Annually you will shake hands with 2 women who have recently masturbated and failed to wash their hands?

Annually you will shake hands with 26 men who have recently masturbated and failed to wash their hands?

In a lifetime 22 workmen will have examined the contents of your dirty linen basket?

At an average wedding reception you have a 1/100 chance of getting a cold sore from one of the guests?

Daily you will breath in 1 liter of other peoples' anal gases?

Just sharing this funny email i just received!

Quezon Province Getaway

After six years of graduating from college, the barkada was able to see Maricel. She lives in Mauban and every time the group has a time to meet in Manila she can’t join us. She invited us several times to visit her and have a vacation in Mauban but we always have excuses. This time, finally we decided to come because this was her big day. September 12 was her wedding day. Only 5 of us came, Noel, Donna, Jing, Amor and me. We all waited for Debby but she has many inexcusable excuses. She didn’t go with us. We rode the JAC Transit from Cubao to Lucena then GTExpress van from Lucena to Mauban for almost 6 hours because of traffic and heavy rain. When we finally reach Icel’s home, her family warmly greeted us. They were all kind to us. The dinner they served is superb. I personally like the shrimp with coconut. The next morning we all went back to Lucena for the wedding.

The reception was just located in front of the church (Diamond Hotel). The food is good but the venue is masikip for 200 guests. During the reception, we all witness the unique wedding traditions they have in Mauban. (My goodness! Ang Daming Pera). When its time for the bride to throw the bouquet, Amor and I quietly slipped outside, leaving Donna and Jing inside the hall. They told us we are madaya. I really don’t like that part of the reception. After dinner we had a good time taking pictures at the hotel garden. We all want a picture that all of us are jumping what we don’t know how to time it. We ended into some wacky shots. At around 10pm, we all went back to Mauban to rest.

Sunday Morning we went to Lucban to visit the Kamay ni Hesus Via Dolorosa Grotto and Healing Church. Here, they have healing masses by noted priest Father Joey Faller. The view from above is breathtaking. I will definetly come back here with my family.

After our short pilgrimage, we went to Kamayan sa Palaisdaan were we ate using our hands. (no spoon and fork). Amor and I are used to eat with our hands because we are Kapampangans. At the end of the day, we were all tired and it’s time for Donna, Noel and Jing to go back to Manila. Amor and I extended our vacation till Monday. We had all a nice time spending our weekend in Quezon Province. We will come back again on Ate Sharon’s wedding or on baptism of Icel’s first child, whichever comes first.

coffee addiction

... i hate how coffee turns into an addiction and how it keeps you up all night

... how it burns and makes your heart beat fast

... especially how it makes you crave for its rich and sweet promises of grains, milk and sugar

... moments later, it puts you into a melancholic mood of coldness

... before you realize, it has consumed you before you should have consumed it

... EMPTY .. HOLLOW .. BITTER...

... then again, you crave for another cup

... JUST LIKE LOVE!

First Meeting

i just got home. my bf together with his parents took me home. im so nervous during the 20min. drive from san fernando to sta rita. maybe because this is the first time that his family will meet my family. there were so many things in my thoughts... i dnt know what to expect. we were all silent during the ride. as if everyone's filled with thought. when we reach home, i invited them for a cup of brewed coffee. i thought they will refuse my offer. then his mom slid off the car. i went to my mom's room announcing that his parents were waiting in the living room. imagine my mom's reaction.... shock is an understatement. then my sisters burst: "namamanhikan na sila?" (pamamanhikan is a Filipino tradition where the man and his parents visit the woman's family and ask for her parents blessings to marry their daughter. It is also an occasion for the parents of the woman to get to know the parents of the man.) i told them, not yet. they just took me home. funny thing is that we noticed that no one wants to do the talking. my father is not around, that leaves my mother to entertain them. at last, my mother said the first word. after 15minutes, they ask to leave because its already late. their first meeting went well. im thinking about their first impression with each other...
i sigh..... thinking maybe.....maybe on their next visit....their purpose is the "pamamanhikan" that i'm waiting for...

simpleng buhay

i've spent three days in naujan oriental mindoro. sa barrio, na experience ko ang simpleng buhay. sa pagtulog=walang aircon, sa pagligo=walang shower. walang facebook!!!! wala ring signal ang suncell! hay naku! sobrang nakakainip! ang tagal ng paglipas ng oras. (wala kasi kaming ginagawa e, hehe) people sleep early. mga 8pm wala ng pips sa daan. hay naku!..i just thought na masarap din naman ang simpleng buhay. noon naman ay wala pa naman ang lahat ng technologies na nagpapadali ng ating buhay. but if i have to choose.... syempre.... ang buhay ngayon! SARAPBUHAY!

Trip to Oriental Mindoro

I think this is my third time in Oriental Mindoro. I am still afraid of the sea. The first time I went here, we rode the fast ferry. It’s about 45 minute boat ride from Batangas Port to Calapan. But this time (just like the second time) we rode the RORO (Starlight Ferry) because it cost us only P85 per person. For almost 2 hours we were sailing, I endure the ride. Imagine my fear. I can’t even stand or walk. From Calapan Port, we traveled by jeep (1 hour) to the quiet town of Naujan where my uncle lived. We spent our 3 day vacation eating, sleeping and chatting. We experienced the simple life in Mindoro (back to basics). Inspite of my fear I will definitely come back and explore the other towns and what Mindoro can offer.

Saint Rita de Cascia

Last night, i watch the play "E Sucat Maliari" at our town plaza. Ito ay life story ng patron saint namin. Sta Rita de Cascia (Apund Dita). Our town mayor took the lead role. This is part or thefirst anniversary of the religious relic of Apung Dita that was given by the Vatican.

family

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family an unwise investment indeed. So what is the morale of the story? Don't work too hard... and you know what's the full word of family?

fascination

but then again, i also love reading fictional english papaerbacks. i have a collection of books of sydney sheldon ang judith mcnaught. yung sidney sheldon ay kulang pa ng dalawa dahil nawawala. may nanghiram at hindi na nasoli. yung "nothing last forever" at "tell me your dreams". pag may time ay maghahanap ako sa recto or sa booksale. before sydney died, he made his last novel "the other side of me". i really want to have that book but wala akong makita sa nb sa pampanga. i told roel i want to have that book at minsan day-off nya ay nakahanap siya sa trinoma. he bought me the book. hehe.
oh! btw, i am a frustrated writer myself kaya siguro ganoon nalang ang fascination ko sa mga pocketbooks.

I.O.U.

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and he handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: $5.00
For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00
For going to the store for you: 50¢
Baby-sitting my brother while you went shopping: 25¢
Taking out the garbage: $1.00
For getting a good report card: $5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00
Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I nurtured you here while you were growing inside me there: No Charge
For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and nursed and prayed for you: No Charge
For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through the years: No Charge
For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead: No Charge
For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your runny nose: No Charge,
Son When you add it up, the cost of my love is: No Charge

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, "Mom, I sure do love you." And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote:

"PAID IN FULL"

A Remarkable Puzzle

FIND 40 BOOKS OF THE BIBLE

This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a Mr. Valdez Raburn, in an airplane seat pocket, while on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. John Hess, who owns a beauty salon in N.J., ere… MI? Ah, it was N.Y.! He found it tucked in one of his beauty magazines. He spent so much time on this puzzle while eating at the local Deli, Saia Hess, his ex-wife, had no choice but to buy out Hess’ salon! I answered quite a bit of email from people that have seen this puzzle. A famous comic, a hilarious musician, sent an email that he studied the puzzle while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor was so mesmerized by this puzzle, she wrote a poem telling people not to fall victim; “O thy hidden books, which fail to be found, I look so hard and futile, I cannot put this puzzle down!” She judges the job of solving this puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some books that are really easy to spot, others near impossible! In fact, some people will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or a scholar to find some of them! At the worst, one should be able to find at least half of them. Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books hidden in this paragraph. The Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons, including Jude Raj, a local seminary professor. They agree this puzzle is one of the most difficult they have ever seen. Prof. Raj, on a Holy Bible, vowed to find all the books; rumor has it he’s still looking. During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, the Alpha Delta Phi lemonade booth set a new record in sales. At an auto auction, where one HEMI, ahead of all other vehicles sold, received a record bid due to the buyer preoccupied with this puzzle while bidding! As Daniel Sherman, a humble priest at St. Luke’s medical center puts it, "The books are all right here in plain view, hidden from sight." Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown where the books are found. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their preceding numbers. Also, keep in mind two things, punctuation and spaces… some proclaim these two bad. I, ahead of the game, knew that spaces and punctuation in the middle of a book would be normal! A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim they can find the hidden books faster. Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus; there really are 40 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this text waiting to be found. God Bless and good luck!

Zoobic Safari

4:30am! so early to start a typical day for me. Usually I wake up at 6:00am everyday, but this is not just an ordinary day. Today is my birthday! My oooppps, 27th year in this planet. I wake up early to prepare for my day. At 5:00am im almost ready waiting for my boyfriend to arrive. We will hear mass together, minutes passed by still wala pa sya…. I keep on calling his phone, making myself worry and the mass is about to start. Good thing that the church is just walking distance from our house. Well 5:25 and wala pa xia, I decided to go to the church by myself. He came during the homily, he came late… I want to get mad at him coz I want us to hear the mass together on my special day but then I don’t want to ruin our day just because of he’s being late… oh well he’s late because he wants to buy a cake for me. What is he thinking? A 24 hour open bakeshop! Sus! I still remain calm. our plan is to spend the day together and explore a place both of us had never been before. Ayun naiisip naming ang zoobic safari dahil malapit lang, since we have to get back home at the evening because of a family gathering (birthday party for me!) My friend who lives in Olongapo recommended a taxi for us to take us to the safari, I didn’t expect the taxi to be a new model of Toyota Revo. Bonggang-bongga!
After a long long drive,…, finally we reached zoobic safari. The entrance fee at the zoo is P395 per person. As we enter the zoo, we noticed a white tiger in a cage. On the guided tour around the zoo, we saw variety of animals na first time ko palang nakita, like the albino carabao,

camel and ostrich. While waiting for the train to take us inside the zoo where the safari is located, Roel got thirsty and bought his favorite coke zero. The highlight of the tour is when we rode into the safari jeepney going to the tiger safari. Inside, for a more exciting ride, you have the option to feed the tigers if you purchase a quarter chicken. Then a male aeta will feed the tiger. Good thing yung mga nakasabay naming ay bumili ng chicken and we got an exciting encounter with the tigers for free! It’s so hot and we really got tired in the tour. The last attraction was the crocodile farm. On our way there we pass the hip-hop bayawak but we didn’t see any bayawak. After the tour, we were so hungry we could eat a whole horse. We took out lunch at Meat Plus located inside the Freeport. As soon as we finished our meal, we decided to go home na. A party is waiting for me at home. We had so much fun and I had a wonderful birthday.
