Puerto Princesa City: Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park

If you plan on doing the Underground River tour, you have to booked in advance as you need to get permit. According to Kuya Nelson, they only allowed limited number of people to enter the underground river as body heat can affect the natural moisture inside.

Our permit is at 11:30am at kung wala pa daw kami sa takdang oras ay ililipat kami sa 4pm. We arrived at the Sabang Port at around 11am. Buti na lang mabilis mag drive si manong driver.

While waiting for our turn, bumili na kami ng bonamin.  Then we boarded the motorized banca. Travel time to the Underground River was 25-30 minutes. Medyo malakas ang alon.

As usual, you have to register first. The tourism office of Puerto Princesa City monitors the number of incoming tourist.

We trekked for around 5 minutes to reach the site proper.

We were so excited na but nawawala si Kuya Nelson. After 5 minutes, bumalik na siya. Hinanap nya pala si Kuya Erwin para siya ang aming magiging bangkero. Kapampangan din daw kasi si Kuya Erwin.

The entire Underground River tour will last around 45 minutes. During the tour, you can see different rock formations. Kuya Erwin explains every formation to us with full humor and enthusiasm in our native capampangan dialect. He also narrated various anecdotes from his experiences as bangkero.

Ang daming bats....

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (also known as St. Paul's Subterranean River National Park, or St. Paul Underground River). It has 8.2 km long underground river that flows directly to the sea. The lower half of the river is brackish and subject to the oceans tide. At sabi ni Kuya Erwin marami daw different species ang naninirahan dito.

Pagkatapos ng tour, sinilip namin ang mga pictures namin sa kanilang photo booth. Oh my! Wala kaming dalang pera. We left our bags at the van in Sabang Port. But sayang naman ang mga magagandang pictures namin kaya nangutang kami ng pera kay Kuya Nelson.

The park was declared as one of the 7 Wonders of Nature last January 28, 2012. It is something to be proud of as a Filipino.

For Php 1,500.00 you can enjoy the Underground River tour (van transfer, permits and buffet lunch included).
